C. Everett (Pee Wee)'s Story
Life
My Wife
I met my wife in Vicksburg, MS shortly after moving there to work at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant. I went to hear a band at the Ramada Inn and she had also gone there. We danced and had coffee later. It was love at first sight for me.
My Pets
My wife raised Tonkinese cats to show. We still have three. We have a Quaker parakeet named Paco that can speak. A cat back porch cat that we rescued named Radar. He had enormous ears as a kitten but grew into them.
My Kids
I have a son and daughter that each have a son and daughter of their own. They live a long way from us (Iowa and Nebraska), but we talk frequently.
My Job
I am the Project Manager for eLearning Instructional Design in Dallas TX for the Chief Information Security Office of ACS inc. a Xerox company. I work from home three days a week which is nice.
How did I get here
When I graduated from Fair Park I went to LA Tech for a year. My Dad was transferred to San Antonio TX and I messed around there until Jan 1970 when I got my draft notice. I ran down and joined the Navy, entering the Nuclear Power field.
After 6 years I got out and went to Texas A&M where I worked nights at the research Reactor for 2 1/2 yrs while going to school during the day.
After that I moved to Vicksburg MS to work at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. I then went to work for Singer Link in MD building Nuclear Power Plant control room simulators.
After 4 years I became a Training consultant...Expand for more
and for 4 years worked in Iowa and 4 yrs in PA.
I was laid off when the Utility industry was deregulated and I became a Training Dept Manager for a manufacturing company that built laser scanners.
After 6 years I was laid off when the company was downsized after 9/11 when we lost 60% of our business. After a couple of semesters at a community college, we sold our house and moved to Fort Worth TX to be near family and find work.
I became a training contractor and worked for several local companies including TX Utilities, AT&T, and Country Wide Mortgage. A year ago I found the job I have now which is a so called permanent position.
At Fair Park
I have fond memories of the times at Fair Park. I was initially in the ROTC (my Dad made me) and the Band. So I was pretty much an outcast. I was always insecure. Most of my friends were from my church. I look at the yearbook and I was a geek before there were geeks. I have never been a joiner so I wasn't involved in a lot of outside activities.
My senior year was the best year. I talked my Dad in letting me quit ROTC.
Being a class clown (defensive mechanism from grammar school) I got a long with most groups at Fair Park but never really was a member of any.
I can remember waking up before finals and could not remember what it was I should be worried about. I worried for several days about not knowing what I should be worried about.
Luckily I came out of my shell a few years later.
